Architectural (dimensional) shingles: one square (100 sq ft) uses ~240 lb of asphalt-saturated fiberglass mat. At current PPI index, material cost ~$95–$120/square plant-gate; with distributor/dealer markup and packaging = $120/square mid = $1.20/sq ft. 3-tab shingles run ~$0.90/sq ft; premium architectural $1.80/sq ft. Range reflects grade and regional distribution markup. Series cadence: monthly. The dollar range is re-derived whenever the underlying index moves more than 5% from the derivation point.
