Do I need rebar, wire mesh, or fiber in a patio slab?
Reinforcement doesn't prevent cracks; it holds them tight. On a 4-inch patio over a compacted gravel base, fiber mesh blended into the concrete is the simplest option.
It adds little to the per-yard cost and the crew doesn't have to position anything during the pour.
Wire mesh does the same job but must be pulled into the middle of the slab during placement. If it sits flat on the ground, it does nothing.

How long before I can park on a new driveway?
